History of Olympic Weightlifting
The Lift Up project is brought to you by chidlovski.com.
One of the leading lifters in the world of the late 1960s and early 1970s, Kaarlo Kangasniemi (Finland) breaks the world record in snatch on his way to the Olympic gold medal of the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. Like most Finnish athletes of the era, Kangasniemi was extremely strong in the snatch lift. Unlike most of his country teammates of the time, Kangasniemi was also a powerhouse in the press and clean-and-jerk lifts.
