Ireneusz Palinski, Poland

World Championship, Vienna, Austria, 1961: One of the finest mid-heavyweights of the 1960s, Ireneusz Palinski (Poland) at the prime of his career winning the 1961 World title in the 90kg class with the 475 kg world record in total. Palinski was a superb clutch lifter and a master of the split style in the snatch and clean. His most powerful lift was arguably his clean-and-jerk. The footage features Palinski setting up his unforgettable clean-and-jerk world record (190KG). The record stayed unbeaten for four years.
