1983 Spartakiade of the USSR: Superheavyweghts

With the retirement of the legendary Vasily Alexeev, the position of the king of the superheavyweights became vacant. The 1983 Spartakiade had perhaps one of the most powerful lineup of the 110+ kg athletes. Watch Anatoly Pisarenko, Aleksandr Kurlovich, Vladimir Marchuk, Alexander Gunyashev, Viktor Mosibit, Sergey Didyk, Alexander Stolyarov - this is just a partial list of super heavyweight contenders that competed in the Izmailovo Sports Hall in Moscow in August 1983. Truly a nostalgic piece for those who followed closely the Olympic weightlifting in the 1980s.
