I worked for Dave when i was 15 to 16 years old and also went to his gym , my mum and dad were friends with him , i' d just like to say that i really liked him and still think of him today regularly

Looks like Dave's Silver medal at the 1970 Commonwealth Games is being confused with an Olympic medal. My old coach, Alan Fairclough, lifted around the same time as Dave and had lots of tales to tell.

David Hancock didn't win silver medal at the 1972 Olympics. He took 13th place with 510 KG total (177.5+142.5+190). Great lifting but no silver.

Dave was my stepdad,he got a silver medal at the Munich Olympics in 1972, think my mum still has it somewhere. He dedicated his life to weightlifting and powerlifting. Such a shame there are not more comments

did my rugby weight training in northages shed at pinxton. les hathaway was the coach.mick whitacker and david sawyer were young olympic lifters and dave was the inspiration to us all, great athlete. phil tatley.
