I was reading on the Lost Battalion Hall website that Novak was a pioneer in the technique of the press where after the clean was completed, the athlete would lean his torsoe back before the athlete would drive the bar of the chest. Novak certainly has most of his records coming fom the press, so this technique oviously worked for him. Does anyone have any clip of Novak pressing? On a side note Norbert Schemansky, as I understand it, stated the most impressive feat of strength he ever saw was at the 1952 Olympics when Novak, in training, did a ramrod 281 lbs press, then lowered it behind the neck and did a press behind the neck. That poundage might seem small, but what seems to have impressed Mr. Schemansky was that this press was super strict, no exaggerated body movements, no lean back, just the arms moving up and down and then to boot a press behind the neck. Once again I'd love to see a clip of Novak in action.
